I am volunteering to help somebody to do research into parents with ADHD.
I had an interview this week and await the thesis at the end with interest.
As happenstance would have it I then saw on Facebook a new local dads group setup to get them out socialising with each other and there is a decent level of interest. So I fused the two ideas in my mind and came up with a new ADHD Dads support group.
It is a mix of online and in-person support, men need support and classically they find it hard to reach out and then add ADHD and being a parent into the mix.
It will launch in Nottingham where I live and if other areas want a group I will spread the approach to them and will need a willing volunteer to link in with us and use our template for running it but with their local knowledge and links.
We know that women have many challenges with ADHD not least under-diagnosis/recognition and how it can manifest in menopause etc and if you would like to launch a similar approach for women (or mums) under our banner get in touch
The aim is to have a Facebook group and other places on the net where we get people together to share experiences and ideas and if people want it a drop-in session online or in person to discuss how ADHD affects them whether diagnosed or not.
