We know that when people realise that they have been living with ADHD that many immediately want to give back by helping others. ADHD coaching is one such way of doing this but how do you do this? What should you consider when deciding who to train with?
Our top tips for finding a coach training provider –
- Check if they have been accredited, to show that they care about quality standards
- How do they train people? Is it all online, in-person or hybrid?
- How is the course delivered? What’s the balance of self-determined study and meeting in groups for training?
- Remember that your reason for attending is often because of your own ADHD so be aware of how it impacts you and therefore which type of training would suit your preference
- What is the cost? Can you spread the cost over a period of months?
- Check for testimonials – find out from people who have been trained by the coaching company how they found it and any hints and tips they may have. Linkedin may be a good place to assess this with so many ADHD coaches using the platform
- If you are receiving coaching ask your coach about who they trained with and learn what you can about it from them
- How can you access support once you have finished the training? Supervision is common for coaches to help them discuss their coaching and access support. Does the training provider do this, do they recommend anyone to provide this? (aftercare)
