I know it sounds weird to wish you a happy diagnosis but it could be a real turning point in your life, for the better. If you approach it with openness you can start being kinder to yourself and understand your ways differently.

Why a diagnosis can lead to feeling worse

The diagnosis suddenly lifts a lid and exposes you. The so-called unmasking removes some of the artifice and protective layers that have kept you ‘safe’ but whilst safe, you haven’t lived as your authentic true self. So how does recognising ADHD in yourself work if it makes you feel worse?

What is titration and how do ADHD meds work?

I now have the benefit of going through assessment and titration of medication. Titration is slowly increasing a dose of a new drug to you to get to the right balance and stabilise. It may mean trying a few different types but for ADHD they broadly fall into stimulants/amphetamines. How does it work?
